Leash required in public. In Chicago it’s unlawful to let a dog go beyond your property line unless it’s leashed and under control (service/rescue exceptions). Off-leash only in designated DFAs. Chicago Park District Dog Friendly Areas (including Montrose Dog Beach) are the only places off-leash is allowed.
